Warren Doesn’t Understand Capitalism
A market is a system for exchanging goods and services for other goods and services or for currency. The market doesn’t care how the production of the goods and services are managed. The market doesn’t care who makes the decisions – in any enterprise – about what to produce, where to produce, how to produce, and what to do with the proceeds. The market sets prices and organizes distribution. Markets organize distribution by transaction chains – when I buy a banana, I distribute my currency to the seller and the seller distributes the banana to me; earlier, the seller distributed a bigger chunk of currency to the wholesaler, who distributed a truckload of bananas to the seller, and so on back to the banana plantation. The market doesn’t care if the banana plantation is managed by slavery, feudalism, capitalism, or socialism.
MDP Admits Systematic Discrimination Against New Members; Rules Committee Votes to Continue Discrimination
The establishment sorts members into those who are known to the establishment coalition, and those who aren’t. Members who will vote with the establishment, and members who won’t, or might not. Members who are loyal to the Party establishment, and members who are disloyal, or whose loyalty is suspect. New members aren’t known to the establishment coalition – they’re new. They’re always suspect, fit only for second class membership under the system Chairman Hughes defends.
The Party Line: Response to Criticism
In the present informational environment, more democracy, transparency, and inclusion is the only way to grow the Party by significant numbers. I want to grow the Party by the tens and hundreds of thousands. That’s what we need in order to fight the right-wing authoritarians, misogynists, white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and worse flooding our politics. We can’t lie, hide, and sweep the problems in the Party under the rug anymore. Authenticity and honesty are powerful political weapons against the dark ideological underbelly of our culture. They aren’t the only weapons we need of course, but they’re weapons we cannot wield until and unless we own the problems we have, and openly work to fix them.
The Party Line #5: MDP Sabotages Proportional Voting
In the last issue, I detailed how officers-at-large tilt the Delegate Selection Plan for the National Convention towards the establishment, effectively stealing delegates from other coalitions. The details were a little technical. In this issue, I’ll explain with as little technical language as possible, other ways in which the officers-at-large system used by MDP leadership tilts every vote of the State Central Committee towards the establishment.
The Party Line Notebook
Proxies strip people of their democratic right to be represented by someone they voted for. Proxies allows Congressional Districts to be represented by someone no one in the CD voted for. The delegate giving the proxy is dictating who will represent the CD. The people of the Congressional District don’t get to vote on who is allowed to represent them. This dictatorship in microcosm. It is purely anti-democratic.
